Buying My Dream Car: A Nissan S14 Kouki a.k.a My Phantom

With everything that occurred last year, I did not have the chance to do what I originally planned for 2020: travel. I started off my 2020 with taking a much needed solo trip to Australia, and New Zealand. Then, two weeks after I flew back home; the world went into lockdown. Anyways, I was lucky enough to stumble across other adventures in the meantime that I always had taken an interest to. Owning my very own Nissan S14 240sx Kouki.

Where the dream all started:

So you can say that I was in the car scene for a hot minute around my senior year in high school till junior year of college. Reason why I got involved was because of a guy who was very much involved, and it became a constant thing in my life. At the time, that whole scene fit what I thought I wanted to be a part of. I was always interested in learning how to fix and work on cars. Also, I was in my rebellious stage against my parents, so why not participate in drifting and racing? Fun little adrenaline rush.

During that period of my life I was exposed to the drifting scene here and the common car I was around was 240’s. I did end up falling in love with the Koukis because of their aggressive headlights, and body lines. I realized that I wanted to design the car’s appearance. Trust me, it will be a “crazy” design.

Fast forward to now…

Quick disclosure, my boyfriend owns a RHD Subaru GC8 (she’s my baby). We originally started chatting because of a shark video I posted about my Australia trip, Then it turned into weeks of chatting about diving (he’s a HUGE photographer in the underwater free-diving community), and other topics. One of the topics was his car, which I have grown to love. Do not care for most Subaru designs, but Mondaiji is my favorite and is currently undergoing her own transformations. You can check out his progress with his massive custom body kit he started on here.

Furthermore, one night he decided to go for a drive to tune his engine, and asked me if I wanted to join. I said yes, and well… back to being in the “car scene” again. With him being into cars, I really got the chance to actually pick his brain. With many in depth conversations on the engineering and designs, here was the start to the journey I am in now.

In the End:

Around July 2020, he told me that one of his friends was selling a Nissan Kouki. At first I was very hesitant about buying, but we went to go see the car. It was in great condition, swapped SR20, and overall, I was getting it for a steal. I knew this was fate.

Finally brought my phantom home! First night in my garage.

Anyways, long story short: I bought it. Surprise, surprise, I decided to now bring back my original plan when I first fell in love with my car. Which will be revealed over time. I will be posting on my Youtube video updates as we go along. So stay in touch with me as I transform my phantom into a monster-piece.

Kisses, Ky
